Well Hello

Its been awhile, I know.. I've been uninspired.. but I am going to try to keep this updated this year.. I figured lets keep this first blog back easy, breezy, and uncontroversial (but dont worry, it wont last long)

Since christmas is now over, and the new year is upon us.. what better to talk about then beauty regimens?! We all know we have at least 1 gift we want to return (that ugly pastel bag from a great aunt perhaps) .. We also all know that we are going to make at least a dozen promises to ourselves about how this year we will blah, blah, blah.. that we won't follow through on, but they sound good. Why not at least start off on the right foot, then.. before we just slump right back into our old habits?

I am going to touch on Skin and Make-Up. If you want weight loss/exercise advice go find Jillian Michael's blog. I am not that girl. I love to eat, and I have no good advice on that topic. Plus, Lately the most exercise I am getting is unwrapping gifts, and even then..most of them were in bags. But I swear to change that in 2012!!!! (cough, see last line of second paragraph)

SKIN

I have one word for everything skin related... SABON.. I swear by Sabon..it is the best stuff in the business..my whole body feels like a babies ass.. I swear..

MAKE-UP

OoOo Everyone who knows me knows i LOVEEEE make-up. And of course, I am going to tell you the best place to go is Sephora. If you stick to the Sephora brand stuff as opposed to the other name brand stuff, you can actually get really high-quality at cheaper prices.

One of my favorite things I recently learned about through a makeup artist friend of mine is a foundation brush. Kiss cotton balls and those weird foamy things good-bye. It spreads everything so evenly its like a dream. Topped off with a good bronzer ..its the best combination. Its like peanut butter and jelly for your face!

You don't need to go to Sephora though. I have found plenty of awesome items in my local drug-store as well. Rimmel has some great, funky products, and they are so inexpensive!! Also the timeless Loreal, Revlon, ect. Just because it is more expensive, doesn't mean its better. Putting on an eyeshadow primer can make any color last 24 hours (believe me i have slept in my makeup enough times to know .. which is terrible for your skin by the way, so try not to do that hahaha)

Since everyone has different skin types, I cant sit here and tell you what brand to get. I will be honest though, spending all this money on high priced cover-ups is not necessary. I HIGHLY recommend Bare Minerals. It really blends with your skin, and you don't get that caked on- dried out.. im from Jersey and I applied WAY too much foundation look (sorry new-jersey girls.. but you know EXACTLY what im talking about).. When it comes to foundation, the best way to keep it is as simple as possible.. that old saying applies: less is definitely more.

ALSO, for the love of god.. get a color that matches your skin. If you want a tanner look get a nice bronzer a COUPLE of shades darker than your complextion. If you are a white girl who should be wearing a #2 beige and you are getting a #10 dark made for a dark complextion. That is a huge N.O NO... When your face is the color of mud, and your neck is the color of milk.. the jig is up.. sorry.

Now, I am going to  do a quick break down of what I feel are the best eyeshadows for different eye colors.. to really make them pop. This comes from personal experience, and doing makeup on others..You don't have to agree with me, personally I don't care if you do or don't :)

Browns: 

The richness, and beauty of brown eyes can REALLY come alive with different shades of purple. It will also make any green specs you have in there jump out. Also, I find shimmery greens work great with brown eyes as well. Pairing a purple shadow with a brown eyeliner is always a good look for brown eyed girls.

Blues:

Use brown and rose shadows. Warm hues will contrast the coldness of blue eyes, making them really pop. Greys and Silvers also work really well with a dark liner for an evening look.

DONT .. DO NOT go for aqua shade that will compete with your blue color.. This will make you look like your aunt who wore deep blue wet and wild in the 70's..(and who is possibly still wearing it) Go with a very different-colored shadow for an eye-opening contrast.

Green:

All women with green eyes look great in brown colors from light beige's to deep chocolate browns. Purples and pinks also complement with green eyes. Some people will suggest that you shouldn't wear green shadow if you have green eyes. However, light green can be very flattering when applied sparingly. 
 

Hazel:

You lucky bitches!!

Women with hazel eyes are able to enjoy the widest spectrum of shadow shades.. but  avoid using an excessive amount of blue-hued shadow. It can dull down hazel eyes and have the opposite effect of what you hope to achieve. Go toward more neutral colors such as brown, gold, pink, lavender, plum, khaki and mocha are great ones too. Purple shades contrast your color, making eyes look dramatic. Warmer shades of mocha complement the green hue in hazel eyes, giving a natural effect.

Another general guideline for eyeshadow application for all colors is - OPPOSITES ENHANCE.. kind of like that Paula Abdul song.. but not as cheesy.

Mascara for me, and most women is an absolute must. It can do wonders all on its own. The choice with this is yours whether you are looking for long and full, or dark and chunky.. is totally up to you.. Again, I recommend the Sephora Brand Mascara's.. They last without clumping, and they have an array of types. I also really like Maybelline. They have so many different types to choose from, and they all work well

Sexy lips are where its at. Just one quick tip about lipstick.. keep it off your teeth.

mayor bloomberg will NOT be taking the subway today..

mayor bloomberg consistently manages to amuse me..

in lieu (isnt that so fun to say?) of the recent "credible" terror threats, our fearless leader, mayor bloomberg, held a press conference (or course).. to shed some light on the breaking news, talk about the measures new york is taking, and what we should do in this situation..

while he was blabbing on (in his annoyingly  nasal tone).. looking completely uninterested, not looking up once from his paper..as if he were talking about schools closing due to snow.. these following few sentences jumped out at me.. "this should in no way affect your day to day lives, I WILL BE TAKING THE SUBWAY TOMORROW" .. i could hear millions of new yorkers out my window collectively say "huh??" .. bull f'ing sh*t mayor.. do you actually expect me to believe you ride the subway everyday?! does he really expect US to believe that? .. has anyone ever even seen bloomie on a subway sitting next to a sleeping crackhead, or giving quarters to a mariachi band? .. i saw one picture of him on the subway once, and it was after the MTA strike had ended.. he was on a COMPLETELY empty subway car during rush hour (like that EVER happens) .. and he had about 30 security men around him (probably trying to prevent him from getting shot by some spanish guy who is furious over him consistently butchering his native language)

and you know what.. if i had his money i wouldn't be taking the subway either.. hell no .. i'm waiting for the day i have enough money for car services to drive me everywhere.. BUT don't lie about it dude .. we are new yorkers, we aren't stupid .. don't insult our intelligence .. like most politicians, i don't trust that man.. its like in a relationship when you think "if they lie about this.. what else do they lie about?"

if god forbid something were to happen.. believe you me.. mr. mayor will be snug as a bug somewhere holding press conferences telling us not to panic.. dick.

but really .. we do worry about this .. and who really gets the brunt of it are those brave men and women, and their families.. not knowing what may happen, but preparing to be the first ones there helping us .. and those heroes deserve a great big thank you! so if you see some troops/policemen in penn or grand central today..or anywhere around the city.. say thank you.. they deserve it.

as the anniversary of 9/11 approaches.. lets remember those we lost.. the ones who gave their lives to save others.. AND how far we have come in the last 10 years.. because we really have .. we are new york god damn it! .. we are strong and resilient.. and we will continue to be that way!

a remake of footloose? say it ain't so!

i go to the movies alot.. and i have been seeing the preview for the remake of "footloose".. you know.. the huge 1984 hit (which also happens to be the year of my birth .. it was a good year).. starring kevin bacon.. which launched the kenny loggin hit named after the movie .. and a hit broadway show .. well, 27 years later .. a director, craig brewer .. who obviously could not come up with any new material has decided .. hmm .. lets remake this massive hit .. and hope it goes just as well..

i have news for you craig.. surprisingly, you are not the first person to try this! (i know, hard to believe).. and it usually doesn't work out..

so its starring kenny wormald (yea, i dont know who he is either), and julianne hough.. the girl from dancing with the stars, and the proactive commercials.

when i first saw the preview it took every ounce of self control i had to not stand up, and blurt out "oh comeeee onnnn what the hell is this sh*t?!" i had visions of "dirty dancing-havana nights" running in my head.. :shiver:

so.. not only are they remaking the movie .. they are also remaking a hit song.. i cant wait to see how this pans out.. pan being the operative word.

this got me thinking.. of some remakes of famous movies that didn't work .. and also maybe some sequels that were absolutely awful but we loved them anyway.. HELLO! grease 2?! c-o-ol r-i-d-e-r..

so i will have a follow up blogs on remakes that worked, remakes that didn't work .. sequels that worked, and sequels that didn't .. but they were so cheesy we loved them anyway!!

happy saturday everyone!!

.. i wasn't going to post today because its the weekend, andd i drank alot last night but i had a bunch of people ask where my blog is today .. and thank you so much for that!! yayyy :D ... so here you go ..

OK.. so i have a love/hate relationship with the jersey shore .. i love it, and i hate myself for loving it .. but you know what so does alot of america so i'm not alone .. when i first met my boyfriend, he made fun of me for loving it so much .. and this season opener he bought ravioli's .. isn't he the cutest?! i converted him.. that's the effect i have on men .. (sorry babe)

ok so the jersey shore is in its what .. 4th season?.. in good old italy.. even though half of the cast isn't italian AND only one cast member can kinda sorta speak italian..

so instead of critiquing the show .. im going to do what i do best .. pull people apart.. cast member by cast member..

j-woww - ok, so the first season i thought jenny or j-woww as they call her .. was a complete white trash looking skank.. then last season she actually looked really hot AND i actually started to like her!.. and this season she looks like skeletor on crack.. did you see her on the episode where mike "the snitchuation" went to the hospital??? when she was crying??? she looked scary..you went too far j-woww..way too far.. not only that.. has anyone noticed what a two-faced bitch she is? .. bff with the boys then bff with the girls playing both sides of the fence.. if she was in my house i'de crack her right in the mouth.. im not scared of j-woww.. believe that.. and if you're reading this .. COME AT ME BRO!

mike "the situation" sorrentino - umm.. the only situation is how he claims to be a ladies man but never gets any ladies.. he annoys me .. he seems like he has a good heart, but hes a snitch and a liar too.. which kind of cancels the other out .. and now, all of a sudden he loves snookie?! meanwhile he always talked shit about her.. the dude is so obnoxious, and he has a butter face.. but he makes more money than god .. so what more can i say.. ide blow the grenade whistle on him for sure.. god bless america

vinny- i loved vinny..he was the one down to earth, kind hearted kid in the house .. now he is coincided and obnoxious .. i don't like what the show has done to him.. and he better slow his role cause eventually this will die out, and we will be watching "where are they now: the jersey shore" and vinny will still be living with his mom, starring in spam commercials.

pauly d -- my favorite .. funny .. cute .. yes hes coincided like vinny, but hes always been that way .. that's just him .. he has a tanning bed in his house for god's sake .. i just wish he would do something with that hair .. i know thats his "thing" but that helmet of his reminds me of the army turtles from super mario.. you know, the ones that throw the hammers.  

sammi and ronnie- of course i put these two together .. am i the only one who sees how f'd up ronnie is to this girl? yes, shes an idiot for staying with him..  but hes SUCH a dick to her .. and not to mention he has TOTAL roid-rage .. hes calling other girls while they are together .. she says one thing and he turns into the hulk .. i have never seen sam kiss one dude on that show, but i've seen ronnie do a wholeeee lot.. but everyone blames everything on this moron of a girl.. HEY  SAM .. leave ronnie .. you're pretty!! but not when you cry .. then you're horrific looking .. that scrunched up face you make .. esh.

snooki -- is a total idiot.. but i love her,and for some reason i think she is totally adorable.. i enjoy her retardation.. i wish i was her friend so i could make fun of her in a loving way.. besides that shes a best selling author.. how many of you can say that? yea.. i thought so.

deena -- oh deena.. she tries so hard i almost feel so bad for her ... shes a nice girl just a little misguided.. did you see her outfit at the VMA's? it looked like someone ate a bag of skittles, and threw it up on her.. who the f is her stylist .. cause they should be fired..and i guess in hindsight she is DEFINITELY better than angelina.. do you like the boobs?!

YEAHHHHH BUDDY!

labor day weekend!! end of the summer woes, and parties!

did you wake this morning and think, "holy white pantsuits, its labor day weekend!" ? i know i did.. i can't believe that the summer is almost over..there was so much i was supposed to do in august, like go tubing down a river, eat seafood outside, and ride a roller coaster.. alas, i watched all the episodes of "bored to death" and prepared for a hurricane.. the best laid plans, huh? 


either way.. i don't know about you, but i work all summer .. unlike all my teacher family and friends who just got to party it up for the last 2 months, and annoy the shit out of me with their facebook updates about going to the beach everyday, and sleeping in late.. so to those loved ones.. i say ha ha haaaa back to work, bi*ch!!


so .. what better way to spend this joyous occasion then spending all the hard earned money we make laboring day to day? what will you be doing? if you live in NY .. (which most of you do..since im not some huge blogger, and only my friends and family read this..(hi mom!)) here are a few things going on around town!!


-electric zoo -- you know i had to start with this.. everyones favorite field day.. taking place on randall's island "e-zoo" is a crazy 3 day multi dj house/techno music event.. basically a dirty raver, and a bleached blonde jersey girls delight.. don't get me wrong.. i have went to this for 2 years in a row now.. BUT .. im just tired of it.. ive been having a fight with myself over wether or not to go this year and ive decided not to..everyone all fu*ked up in a field..waiting on a line for a dirty porter potty for 30 minutes behind some chunky girl who is all hopped up on ecstacy, and insists on giving you free hugs..trying to find friends for hours because you either have no service, or they cannot put a sentence together.. ALSO..if you are taking public transit, there is only one bus out of there and it drops you in the middle of nowhere in harlem.. so be prepared for that.. if you have never been..go.. you will have fun.. but at this point im personally over it (sorry guys, i know alot of you still love it) .. but i'm just being honest.. of course some of my FAVORITE dj's will be there.. including Danny T (always a great time), Carl Cox, Danny Hawtin, Loco Dice.. the list goes on.. here is the catch.. they are all on different days, at totally different times, and they don't play for that long.

hamptons-- the hamptons are always fun!! just be prepared to spend your weekend spending all your money, and dealing with some stuck up people.. but once you get through that.. its all good.

monday- VICTOR! (my fave.. it gets me so mad they do this on monday when so many people have work on tuesday.. if you go to victor you better plan on partying/dancing your ass off!)

OK so for my first official blog i will address something that has been eating away at me.. i have been seeing WAYYY too much kim kardashian in the papers, tv, magazines, EVERYWHERE .. i even saw keeping up with the kardashians filming by my job.. its like they haunt me.. (i do watch the show when i flick through the channels, and its on..i must admit..skinny girls crying over gaining 2 pounds or kris jenner crying over a new wrinkle on her face gives me some sort of sick thrill)

anyway..
